SIGTURK will hold its first annual meeting in collocation with ACL on August 15-16, 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand which will be organized as a hybrid in-person/virtual event. We encourage all members to share their novel or ongoing research findings in the scope of paper or abstract contributions. We are also planning a virtual hackathon to demonstrate our ongoing efforts to implement the SIGTURK NLP library that brings together open-source resources and tools for language processing across Turkic languages. More information is available on the workshop page: https://sigturk.com/workshop/
SIGTURK has ongoing efforts for systematic evaluation of foundation models across morphologically-rich languages and in the process of compiling available corpora and linguistic tools available for extending the evaluation into more Turkic languages. If you are knowledgeable about such resources in different languages or interested in conducting such research to help our projects you are free to join the weekly research meetings or get in touch with the research group.
We hope to see all of our members and anyone interested in the upcoming workshop as well as our regular research and discussion meetings, which continue to take place every Monday 6 PM UTC and our monthly general open topic meetings every last Monday of the month, 5:30 PM UTC.SIGTURK has re-organized its communication and organization structure under its own domain sigturk.com to better serve its infrastructure and communicate with members interested in different community activities. Our mailing list has been moved to communi...@sigturk.com which allows communication and access to content among all SIGTURK members. Any direct inquiries to officers related to feedback, suggestions or questions can be sent to con...@sigturk.com. Workshop specific inquiries, especially which may concern submissions and other details of participation can be directed to work...@sigturk.com.
Thank you for your interest and have a wonderful month.
