Dear Friends and Colleagues:
The day after the 20 first-graders were shot and killed (six bullets each), a friend of mine in Boston and I formed MOMS—Mothers Opposed to Mayhem. All I could see was my 6-year-old granddaughter's face—and her dead in her first grade classroom. It was
enough to push me to make ending gun violence a life-long mission. For two months we have been organizing wherever we could find interested citizens to hold a vigil on Sunday, March 10, from noon to one. Our vigil, sponsored by Mayor Coss's office, will be
held on the Santa Fe Plaza.
I would be incredibly grateful if you would pass the attached flyer to your friends, social networks, religious institutions and ask them to attend. We would love to have children and grandchildren attend. And if there are children who would like to
turn in their toy guns (as happened very successfully and powerfully in Santa Monica, CA this year), we will have a representative of the Santa Fe police to take them.
In order to save me the effort of calling each of you, can you RSVP and let me know if you are coming and how many friends and family you will bring?
For those who don't know, there is now an ever-growing gun control group here in Santa Fe, some 110 and counting. We are the New Mexican Citizens for Gun Safety. Any of you who would like to be on our mailing list to keep abreast of legislation at the
Roundhouse and nationally, let me know.
Please check out my Facebook page, noted on the flyer. I have posted excellent information daily for the last two months on every issue surrounding gun violence in the nation.
Thanks so much!!!!
Lois Rudnick, for MOMS
