  • Orientation documents that need to be reviewed and signed
  • Link to orientation video in case you missed it
  • First Days of School schedule
  • Details about class retreats
  • Removing SMS (Text Messaging) support from SET High communication after this email

School starts on Monday!

Woot!  Woot!  New students please arrive no earlier than 8:20 AM so that you can avoid that uncomfortable new school feeling.  We have plans for you the whole day that start at 8:30 so we promise to be there for you from 8:30 on, but it can feel a little awkward if you arrive at school early.  I know that this advice might feel like it's the opposite of what you'd want to do if you're new and you want to make a good impression by being on time!  I promise that everything will be fine even if you wind up being a couple of minutes late!

Returning students, there is nothing scheduled for you until 9:30, but we'd like you to come hang out with your friends and tell your summer stories during that first hour of school.

Orientation documents that need to be reviewed and signed

Parents and students, you have some homework over the next few days.  The following orientation documents need to be reviewed and signed.  Please start with the Google Form which will ask you some questions and serve as your acknowledgement signature.  If you need to reference these documents in the future, they can be found on the Parent Portal on the sethigh website.  The direct link is here.

Start here: Acknowledgment Form

The documents referenced in the form are all found at the link I gave you above.  Here it is again.

Link to orientation video in case you missed it

This is a must watch (or must skim, at least) video to get all of your questions answered.  Returning families should watch it as well, please.

First Days of School schedule

Monday

  • 8:30 - 9:30 : New students in den and returning students meeting with their friends
  • 9:30 - 10:30 : All students meet in the den for an All ROAR (We are the Lions so we call our whole school gatherings All ROARs.  The acronym used to mean something long ago, but no longer does).  New students will already be in the den so you get to just stay where you are.
  • 10:30 - 11:30 : All students will go to Advisory.  New students, your advisors will stay in the den with you and walk you to advisory.  New students will receive computers and logins during this time.

Removing SMS (Text Messaging) support from SET High communication after this email

Verizon is about to break (or may have already broken) the method that we use for text messaging, so since it's been hit or miss ever since we implemented it, I'm going to deactivate SMS support across the board after this message.  Please check your email going forward (make sure to check spam if you don't see a message from me every couple weeks!).  You can always find the messages on the Core Competency dashboard, too, in case you think you missed something.

Thanks everyone!  Looking forward to having everyone back on Monday!  The AC is working, by the way, so no worries there.

Dr. McCurdy
