Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
I regret to inform you that Mr. Snow is going on medical leave effective immediately, has resigned his position effective June 6th, and will not be returning next school year. I want to emphasize that he does not have a terminal illness so that you do not jump immediately to a worst case scenario.
The plan moving forward to cover the immediate staffing shortage is to have Ms. Hines (our school counselor who is at the final stages of acquiring a social science teaching credential) cover his classes for the remainder of the school year using her 30 day emergency sub permit. She is being helped by Ms. J to ensure that all standards are being met. We already had plans to have Ms. Hines teach two social sciences classes next year, so she is well qualified for this position. Ms. J will cover Mr. Snow's advisory.
Mr. Snow was also our Athletic Director this school year. We had already hired Mr. Calderon to start the transition process of Athletics. Ms. Geis and Mr. Calderon will be serving as co-Athletic Directors going forward.
Staffing changes are always disruptive to schools and we do our best to minimize these when we can. This is obviously not great timing, but we are confident that our staff and community will rally to make sure to minimize the impact on students. We are all here to speak with students and to help them through this transition.
We ask that students honor Mr. Snow's right to privacy. You can of course ask us questions, but there is little beyond what I am saying here that I am allowed to say. If you have any messages for Mr. Snow, we are happy to forward them to him.
Thank you to Mr. Snow for his years of service to the SET Community serving as a teacher, mentor, and athletic director.
Thank you everyone for being there for each other and for helping us all through this transition.
Dr. McCurdy
