  • Thank you for a great exhibition!

11th graders schedule classes on Tue, 10th on Wed, and 9th on Thu

(Note that I'm referring to this year's grade levels. So that's 11th graders who will be in 12th grade next year, etc.  If you are an incoming student who happens to be reading this email, you will be scheduling your classes over the summer with Ms. Heath.)

We originally told the students who asked that we would start scheduling classes on Monday, but I've delayed it until Tuesday because I want to give students an opportunity to sit with the mater schedule for a bit to make sure that we don't have any conflicts.  It's much more difficult to fix conflicts once students have already started enrolling in classes.

Students have registration windows based on seniority.  Our 11th Graders will sign up for courses starting on Tuesday at 1:30 PM.  10th Graders start on Wednesday, and 9th Graders on Thursday.  All windows will start during either 4th or Flex Time (depending on the day).  It is possible that we will delay the 10th and 9th graders by a day if we discover scheduling conflicts that we need to resolve.

We always offer 3 versions of core classes (2 during 1 term and 1 during the other term), so if you only see one option of World History, for example, there will be two options in the Spring.  If you are unable to take a core class that you want or need, you will be able to fit it in in the Spring.

Instructions for how to use the scheduling system can be found in text form here or in video form here.  Ignore the scheduling dates that are mentioned in the video.  It's an older video that I should have made generic so it works for each subsequent year, but there's good information in there for new students, so I'm still going to share it.

Master Schedule

The master schedule for Fall is now live (you may have noticed it on Friday) and can be found here, but really you should be following the instructions in the links above and only looking at the classes that are available for you based on your current grade level and on the pre-reqs that you have completed.  You do this by clicking on the View Options link on your CoreCompetency dashboard (see the instructions in the links).

Know that popular classes fill up quickly, so you should be looking at the master schedule (that link above, or Reports|Master Schedule) throughout the week to make sure that the classes that you want are not already full.  You'll be able to add yourself to a waitlist, but if you are deep on the waitlist, it's not likely that you will get the class.  You will also want to sign up as early as possible in your scheduling window so that you can beat out everyone else who is in your grade.  Students who pay attention to emails like this and are on the ball always seem to get the classes that they need or want.  I wonder why.  :)

Your advisors are available to help you if you are new and/or confused.  Just about any staff member (including me) will be able to help if your advisor is busy for some reason.  Ask early, though, so that you know what you should be doing before your scheduling window starts.

Thank you for a great exhibition!

Thank you to the staff for their hard work preparing for exhibition, thank you to the students for bringing your best throughout the year, thank you to the parents and families for supporting our students, and thank you to the SET PA for providing food!  I'm always inspired and re-energized after exhibition.  Thank you for doing it again!

Almost there!

Dr. McCurdy
