Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
(Ms. Heath is out sick today so please excuse any typos that I may have missed!)
We've broken from our easy to remember 1st Thursday of the month for Early Release days now that Spring Break messed with the pattern. Hopefully you all noted the Early Release days on your personal calendars, though. This Thursday and 5/21 break the pattern because it's convenient to have those days be Early Release days based on the other things that we have going on at school on those days. This Thursday is our annual Community Service day and the shorter day works better for the various organizations that we work with. If you haven't had any communication about community service day from the various staff chaperones, it means that your student has elected to be a part of one of the activities that is happening closer to school. Those students should be dropped off and picked up at the normal times for an Early Release day.
If you have received other communication about your specific community service event from the teachers, please stick with what they told you. It's always dangerous for me to try to give general information about what is going on because people might think my information supersedes what you have already heard from your specific chaperones. Don't listen to me if you already have heard from someone else!
Just a heads up to save the date. Our Spring Exhibition will be in the evening on 5/21 (5:30 to 7:00 PM). It's helpful to have this be an Early Release day for our staff and parents so that's why this Early Release day isn't on the typical 1st Thursday of the month rotation.
Our community responded to the call to come to the Soiree and it was another amazing event put on by our outstanding SET PA. The PA netted a whopping $15,965! Thank you to everyone who planned and attended the event. You all are amazing!
The week of 5/4 is our CAASPP testing week for the 11th graders and we wind up using that week as an excuse to do all of the other things end-of-year things that we want and need to do. If you have a specific need to know about something that is occuring during this week, you have already received (or will soon receive) information directly from those running the specific events. Here is the general plan for the week, though:
(Note, for those of you who are new to SET, ROK's are Reflections of Knowledge presentations that all of our students do at the end of the school year. The yearly ROKs culminate in the special Senior ROK that each of our Seniors do as they reflect on their high school years and prepare for the transition into their next stage of life. Our Senior ROK's are a really big deal and our students always blow us away with their depth of reflection, candor, and heart. Try to get your Senior to share their presentation with you or do a little eavesdropping on them while they practice it!)
Here's a repeat of the original yearbook message sent out earlier in the year. Note that the current price is $65. I have edited that part of the original email to minimize confusion.

We recorded a double-header last Friday when we drove up to LA to receive our 3rd California Distinguished School award (have we told you about that????). I interviewed Ms. Geis about her childhood on the drive up and she interviewed me about mine on the drive down. The episodes can be found in their usual location on our website: https://sethigh.org/nicky-and-me-podcast-reflections-from-set-highs-principals/ or on Spotify.
Thanks everyone!
