In honor of San Carlos' Centennial year, San Carlos youth and teens in grades 6-12 are invited to showcase their talent by submitting original artwork illustrating the theme: "What San Carlos Means to You". The grand prize winner and the 1st - 3rd place winners of the grades 6-12 Centennial Art Contest will receive a cash prize and be honored at the City Council Meeting on May 27, and have the opportunity to have their art displayed at City Hall May 19 through June 30. All coloring pages and original artwork submissions can be turned in at the San Carlos Youth Center from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., April 1 through May 9 with the attached flier/submission form (2-page pdf), and will be showcased at the Youth Center throughout Hometown Days. Contest winners will be announced on the Grass Stage at Hometown Days on Sunday, May 18. Artwork: Artwork must be no bigger than 12” x 18.” Artwork must be mounted on paper with a border 1-2” larger than 12” x 18.” Artwork on canvas or cloth and framed work is acceptable. Students may submit up to two pieces, but only one piece can win a prize. Acceptable mediums: oil paint, acrylic, watercolor, tempera, chalk pastel, pen and ink, charcoal, oil pastel, colored pencil, collage, fiber, and digital art (submissions must be printed, not electronically submitted) | Katie Wong | Through Friday, May 9 |
