A correction from the Mentor Invitational: Mark Hauptman was incorrectly referred to as Alex Hauptman for placing 3rd in Write it Do it with Will Gonzalez. To set the record straight, Mark earned the medal not Alex. Alex graduated already. Mrs. Schilf messed up.
The team will meet during Community Period A on Thursday Feb. 23rd for a mandatory meeting to prepare for our Regional Competition on March 4th.
Environmental Anthropology
New science course for Junior and Seniors in 2023-24: If you are interested in the intersection between humans and the environment, this course is for you! It is a very hands-on, interdisciplinary class that will teach you about relevant environmental topics from a variety of cultural perspectives. Sign up today!
Student Service
Want to spend a week doing service for Habitat for Humanity this summer? St. Ed's has a rich tradition of going to West Virginia for a week of service, skill building, and fellowship. Sign ups are available for 12 students. Cost is $400, with a $50 deposit due by March 16. Dates are June 4-June 10, 2023.
There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, March 1 at 8:20am in the Chapel. This meeting is not mandatory to attend the trip, but recommended if you have questions.

Candidates were emailed candidate information forms last week. They are due by 3:15 on Tuesday, March 14. S.A.L.S.A. (Spanish Club) The SALSA Mixer last Friday night was a HUGE success!! The SALSA instructors were great and really got everyone into the spirit of the dance!! They even did a performance for us at the end of the evening. Make sure to keep an eye out for the dance NEXT YEAR when we host it in OCTOBER 2023, during Hispanic Heritage Month!
Wrestling The Wrestling team earned their 44th State Championship Sunday evening!
All 14 starters wrestled in the state Tournament . The team competed against wrestlers from 100 division 1 high schools. The Wrestlers earned these results: Champions : Sophomore Ethan Timar @ 106 lb and Freshman Karson Brown @ 113 lb. Placing 2nd was Junior Kade Brown @ 132 lb, Junior Ryan Bennett @ 138 lb, Sophomore Bradley Eaton @ 150 lb, and Sophomore Jarrel Miller @ 175 lb. Placing 3rd was Sophomore Ty Miller @ 165 lb. Placing 5th was Sophomore Adam Butler @ 120lb, Junior Lucan O'Brien @ 144lb, and Junior Jonathon Slaper @ 190lb. Also competing were Sophomores Behlen Waugh @ 215 lb and Nathan Gregory @ 285 lb. Congratulations Wrestlers.
Symphonic Band Congratulations to the Symphonic Band for receiving straight superior ratings at the OMEA Large Group Assessment this past Friday! This is the first time the group has scored so well and with the largest symphonic band in recent history.

Mock Trial - State Champions!!
We are pleased to announce that after 14 years and hundreds of students that have come through our program we are officially STATE CHAMPIONS!!! This year started with over 200 teams of which 24 qualified for states. After five incredibly competitive trials over three days the Eagles were the last ones standing!! In addition to winning the state championship, individuals were recognized for their outstanding performances!! Please be sure to congratulate these young men for their exceptional achievement!!

Travel to Costa Rica and stay at a scientific research station in a costal rainforest helping scientists gather data and monitor wildlife! This amazing 10 day eco-adventure, open to students in all grades, is planned for June 2024. The Science Olympiad State Team will meet during our normal community period A on Wednesday, 3/29 in L101. This is the last official meeting before Easter Break. It is mandatory. Students can work in L101 during enrichment, community period or after school any day to prepare for their events for States. Please check your email for important announcements
