UKSEDS is pleased to announce Alan Bond, Chief Engineer of Reaction Engines Ltd., as a keynote speaker at the National Student Space Conference 2013. Mr Bond will present on the latest developments of the SABRE engine, which the European Space Agency considers a potential ‘major breakthrough in propulsion worldwide’, and the SKYLON space plane for which it is intended.

We are also pleased to announce that the conference will also play host to a prototype Martian rover called Bridget, which is used to test systems such as autonomous navigation that will be incorporated into the ESA ExoMars expedition due to launch in 2018. Bridget recently featured on Stargazing Live during a discussion about the possibility of life on Mars, and will be accompanied by a team of engineers from EADS Astrium Ltd.

There will also be a wide range of speakers from the UK Space Agency, the Royal Astronomical Society, the International Space University and many other prominent space organisations.

On the evening of the 23rd (Saturday), there will be a free wine reception sponsored by the Royal Astronomical Society, which will provide attendees with an excellent opportunity to network with the exhibitors. This will be followed by a special ‘Birthday Social’ with a buffet aboard Under The Stars in Bristol Harbour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of UKSEDS - tickets can be purchased separately on our website.

On the 24th (Sunday) we will hold our Annual General Meeting at which the officers will present their reports for the year, and members will be able to stand for positions on the committee. Details of this will be available on our website shortly.Conference registration is now open at http://ukseds.org/conference2013, and tickets can be purchased at the following prices:

For students: Free for paid members, £10 for branch members, £15 for non-members 

For professionals: Free for paid members , £30 for non-members There is a separate £10 ticket for the social
