Dear Fellow SEDS Chapters,

I just wanted to inform you of a few updates related to the northeast regional conference. Registration is now open, and will go until March 15. Registration is free but encouraged; it will help us track the number of attendees so we can better prepare food accommodations and handouts, and everyone who registers will get a name tag. Registration for the project exhibition is separate from the main registration, and is also open at this time. Each project being showcased requires a separate registration, which will secure a table in the exhibition area and include a description of the project in the registration packet.

There are also a number of events for which the details have been finalized. Two speakers have  been confirmed: Paulo Lozano and Tali Figueroa. Professor Lozano will be speaking about the future of space propulsion, and Professor Figueroa will be speaking about the astronaut process.

Ideas for a number of project workshops have also been finalized. Some of the available workshops will be:

    * Tethered cube satellite project to study the dynamics of carbon fiber ribbon
    * Multi-stage amateur rocket challenge
    * "Open project brainstorming" - open time after the above workshops where students will be able to discuss individual project ideas with others
    * Fundraising
    * Social networking/SEDS Media - ways to better expose SEDS and showcase the projects SEDS chapters are working on.

Finally, there will be two showings of Michael Potter's movie, Orphans of Apollo.

To register, please visit our website at http://seds.mit.edu/conference/ . As new speakers are secured and other details finalized, they will be posted on the site, so check back often for up-to-date information about the conference. If you use Twitter, you can follow us at http://twitter.com/mitseds for a concise list of updates.

A flyer advertising the conference and the official logo can be found at the following address: http://web.mit.edu/e_peters/www/seds/

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. I hope to see many of you there.
