As a member of the Space Exploration Alliance (SEA), SEDS-USA wants to invite all students to participate in the SEA legislative blitz 2011 this February 27 - March 1.  If you have ever wanted to talk to the lawmakers in Washington DC who fund NASA and whose actions chart the course for the private space industry, this is your chance!

There are over 100 planned meetings with congressional offices during the Blitz and registration for the event is free for all students.  Please take this as a great opportunity to show you care about space exploration initiatives in the United States and to make your views known to your congresspeople.  I very much hope that nearby chapters will be able to participate and I encourage students from chapters that are further from Washington, as always, to write to their representatives about the importance of space policy to them.

Learn more about the SEA and the Blitz at the SEA website and register via the NSS sign-up page.

Separate from the Blitz event, I was asked to inform students in the Washington DC area that the Space Frontier Foundation is also organizing a separate event in Washington a week later to urge lawmakers to "Keep the Promise" to the commercial space industry (March 6-8).  If you are interested in that event, organized by the Space Frontier Foundation, please go to http://promise.spacefrontier.org/ to learn more.  They are currently trying to find free or low-cost lodging for students that come and you can talk to Aaron Oesterle (ferris.valyn @ gmail.com) for more details about that.

Disclaimer: SFF holds its own views of space policy separate from SEDS-USA. SEDS-USA is not advocating those views as an organization, but only encouraging like-minded students to take advantage of this SFF-organized event.

Thanks for looking at these opportunities!

Remember to check out the latest edition of the SEDS NOVA newsletter and to sign up and make plans for ISDC 2011, which is coming up this summer!
