My laptop died this summer and am just getting around to posting my summers work.

Here are two taken through the starfinder using the old 40D

Omega

Eagle

Im a bit rusty on processing and images are a little grainy imo.

Enjoy,
Brian

Hi Brian--these images are a visual treat.
Not grainy to my eye.

Nice work!
Steve

Loren,

Those have alot of info in them and are sharp, but the deeper shots are clipped too much becasue of eneven field illumination.
You would benefit greatly if you bought gradiantXterminator from Russ Croman.

The tool is a must if one suffers from this.
I use it on all my deep shots especially with the starfinder. Widefield images are a bit harder to deal with, but it can be done.
It can balance the color gradiants, and undeven field illumination like magic.

Photoshop 5.5 or later though. you said you have PS 2. You might want to contact his support page if interested and ask there.

Brian - as always I loved your pictures.
Thought you might like to poke some fun at my most recent attempts
Here is a link to them on picassa https://picasaweb.google.com/113772329017993352302/AE23AstroPhotos?authkey=Gv1sRgCIz417KazoabgQE
Cheers and keep them coming.  Also watch out for the ice on those roads.  We are already seeing temps below freezing at time here in the Sierras (followed by daytime temps in the 80s so can't complain - yet)
These were taken during the Sept new moon at our dark site just south of Mono Lake in Ca at about 8300 feet.  I haven't had time to put the details in ,but basically they are 3 min or 5 min shots on average 10 shots per item with darks, at about 40deg f. Taken using a modded canon rebel thru a Tak ED180 on an MI250 guided with an STV using the stv's little ota. Processed in IP and slight touchup in PS2 afterwards
