Hi all,

We were just wondering how other schools have got on with integrating the New Bailiwick Curriculum with the Agreed Syllabus for RE (2013). We are struggling with the volume of (fact based) content in the agreed syllabus and the fact that there are only 2 or 3 religions covered throughout KS1 and 2. We would like to take a more multi-cultural approach, weaving it in with other cross-curricular topics. Any suggestions gratefully received!

Thank you for your question! I am sure that when more people start signing up to the discussion boards, someone will able to help.

I would also be interested in meeting, if any people decide to get together to come up with a plan to move forward.

Just checking - do you have a copy of the Agreed Syllabus 2013? Is it Millennium Visions? Just asking as the copy I have is 08/09 and I have been told that this is the latest copy. Thanks!

Yes I do - I found it on line originally and have the pdf version saved in my Google Drive. If you email me at school I can share a link with you. I will keep looking for where I originally found it for you!

Hi Caroline,

I agree,  Millennium Visions is very heavy in content and this is something that the CDT will be following up in the Autumn term.

At my own school, we have started to look at themes that are being taught across the year groups and how the RE might fit into them, with philosophical questions underpinning it.  So, for example, we've had a theme on Journeys, which has enable pilgrimages to be taught, but with Year 5 and 6, not just Year 6 where it's normally taught.  We've also encouraged other year groups to look at the 6 religions if it is relevant to their themes. I'm sure it's what you're doing already, but until there has been a discussion about whether to continue to use Millennium Visions, then we are trying to use it in a more creative and appropriate way.
