Penn - see below.  These events will be using the repeater on Campus - WM3PEN - and the local clubs are supporting the efforts (HARC, Phil-Mont, MARC, Etc).

Note: THIS DOES NOT REQUIRE A AMATEUR RADIO LICENSE NOR AN INTEREST IN GETTING ONE.

ARES Em Comms uses unlicensed frequencies and supply the HTs.

Come have fun in our City parks and maybe re-unite a lost kid.

Ping me with any questions.

Greetings,

This is an exciting time for SEPA Red Cross and Philadelphia ARES!  We have been asked to provide communications support at events this summer such as FIFA World Cup Soccer matches, Wawa Welcome America Fireworks (and other events), and the MLB All-Star Game!

SEPA Red Cross will be providing reunification support during these events, and we have been asked to provide communications support and backup in case of cell tower overload or other communication disruptions.

This will take far more operators than we have and we could use some help!  Ideally prospective communicators would be willing to become Red Cross volunteers, even if just for these events (it makes logistics much easier). Each volunteer will get a badge.  No training is required.

If you are interested, please email cliff.h...@redcross.org to be added to the list.  Once I have a list of all interested parties, Volunteer Services will reach out with steps to become a Red Cross volunteer.

The dates for the events are:
6/14/2026
6/19/2026
6/20/2026 (possible)
6/21/2026 (possible)
6/22/2026 (possible)
6/23/2026 (possible)
6/22/2026
6/25/2026
6/26/2026 (possible)
6/27/2026
7/1/2026 (possible)
7/2/2026 (possible)
7/4/2026
7/11/2026 (possible)
7/13/2026 (possible)
7/14/2026 (possible)

Thanks so much for your interest and assistance!  Please email me directly with any questions.

Team: I got a number of things wrong that Cliff KC3PGT has immediately corrected for us.  From Cliff below

John,

A couple of corrections.

1. This is a Red Cross effort.  ARES is only involved because they support the Red Cross in Philadelphia. Additionally ARES only accepts licensed operators as members.

2. We are recruiting for AMATEUR RADIO OPERATORS ONLY!  I am not involved in reunification or the Go-Teams and cannot even say if they are looking for more members.

3. We are not publishing the repeaters nor frequencies we will be using to reduce QRM.

Thanks a always for your efforts. Your enthusiasm is appreciated!

Best,
Cliff

And thanks again to Cliff for coming to Penn Campus last semester on a Saturday to educate us a bit on Em Comms. See Cliff’s slides from the October 18, 2025 meeting below - Cliff starts on slide 43.

Best,
John W3MHZ
