Newsline broadcasts (
https://www.arnewsline.org ) are a 20 minute round-up of amateur radio activity worldwide and often sparks good conversations. And projects.
—> Currently we have a team exploring a Ham Sci Personal Space Weather Station build along with the Delaware Valley Radio Association (home of the local Earth-Moon-Earth antenna in West Trenton, NJ). Please Share any knowledge one may have (
https://hamsci.org/psws-overview ).
—> ARES will be looking for many volunteers to work the World Cup Soccer games in Philadelphia (n=6), The 4th of July Parade, the 250th Anniversary Celebrations, and the All-Star Baseball Game in Philadelphia.
- Each event required amateur radio comms teams on site and at Red Cross and Emergency Management Headquarters in addition to Net Control Stations (operating from home) so many hams are needed.
Even if you are not licensed you can participate. The ARES Strike Teams uses the unlicensed portion of 2 meters.
Even if you cannot leave home you can participate ==> be a Net Control Station.
This summer is also Field Day (MARC usually has a good set up) and also 13 Colonies during 4th of July week so much ham radio fun available.
