Dear colleagues,
We (Matteo Costanzi and Emiliano Munari) would like to advertise a postdoctoral position at the University of Trieste, focused on the exploitation of the forthcoming Euclid galaxy cluster data. The appointment is for two years, starting ~January 2024, with possible extensions depending on funding availability and performance. The position will be to develop and apply novel models and techniques to Euclid data to enable and/or empower the cosmological analyses of the Euclid galaxy cluster sample. In particular, the post will focus on the optimization of the cluster detection, characterization and calibration of scaling relations and selection function. Candidates with a strong background in data analysis and modelling – especially in the field of cluster lensing –, and/or expertise in code development and numerical simulation implementation are encouraged to apply. Expertise in machine learning algorithms will be considered a plus. The successful candidate will be working within the international environment of the galaxy cluster Science Working Group and LE3 of the Euclid Consortium, and in close contact with the lively environment of the galaxy cluster group at the Observatory and at the Department of Physics of Trieste.
