El martes 19 de Mayo a las 12:30 (CEST) disfrutaremos de un nuevo “RIAto de Café”, un encuentro virtual, breve e informal para compartir experiencias y fomentar la colaboración en la comunidad de las ICTS en astronomía. Estas sesiones se desarrollan habitualmente en español.
En esta ocasión contaremos con Víctor Béjar y Jose Miguel Delgado del IAC, que nos hablarán de GRANCAIN, una cámara infrarroja de alta resolución angular para GTC.☕ ¡Prepara tu café y no te lo pierdas!

Título: “GRANCAIN, the first scientific Adaptive Optics camera at GTC”

Resumen: GRANCAIN is the first scientific Adaptive Optics (AO) camera installed last October 2025 on the GTC. This instrument is located behind the GTCAO system, which has been in operation on the GTC since June 2023. GRANCAIN (11 mas/pix, 13" diameter FOV) provides diffraction-limited images in the J, H and K-band with a resolution of ~25-40 mas. This represents a resolution ten times better than under good seeing conditions and more than 1.5 times better than that of the JWST. In this talk we will review the design, integration and tests of GRANCAIN in the IAC laboratory and GTC telescope, and we will present the first light images of the instrument. GRANCAIN will be dedicated in the coming months to the commissioning of the adaptive optics and the instrument itself, before the arrival of FRIDA.
