A nice excuse to cool down in Sardinero beach with a pincho de tortilla and a beer while enjoying the total solar eclipse this summer.
The conference will focus on recent advances in gravitational lensing in galaxy clusters enabled by JWST, including:
- Early galaxy formation revealed by strongly lensed JWST observations
- Dark matter mapping and precision mass modeling of galaxy clusters
- Lensed transients and time-domain lensing science
- Results from latest major JWST lensing cluster programs
- Synergies with complementary facilities (e.g., ALMA, VLT, ELT, Rubin, Roman, Euclid)
- Future lensing surveys, tools, data products, and community efforts for lens modeling
The meeting is structured in two parts. The first half of the week (August 10–12) will feature open science talks covering a broad range of JWST lensing results, as well as broader community discussions, including “Lensing Surveys: past lessons and future directions”, aimed at shaping the next generation of cluster lensing efforts. These sessions will culminate in the Solar Eclipse on Wednesday afternoon.
The latter half (August 13–14) will focus more on a mix of open discussion and collaboration meetings, including activities organized within ongoing JWST programs such as VENUS and SLICE.
We hope this format provides flexibility for all participants: attendees are welcome to join discussion sessions, engage in emerging collaborations, participate in team meetings where appropriate, enjoy Santander and the beach, or depart after the main science program.
