Dear colleagues,
The Observatorio Astrofísico de Javalambre (OAJ) has opened the Call for Proposals for Semester 2026A (1st January -30th June). The deadline for proposal submissions is September 15th at 23:59:59 CET.
This call offers the use of T80Cam at the 80cm JAST/T80 telescope. T80Cam is a panoramic camera with a large-format CCD of 9.2k x 9.2k pixels providing an effective FoV of 2 square degrees (1.4deg x 1.4deg). It hosts a set of 12 narrow, medium and broad band optical filters originally defined to conduct the J-PLUS survey (http://www.j-plus.es) whose first more than 3000deg² of data have already been released in the DR3 (https://archive.cefca.es/catalogues/jplus-dr3).
The OAJ open time for this Semester amounts to 40 hours for Regular Programs (only Target of Opportunity programs are offered). The document linked below provides the main information on available instrumentation, the open time description and the submission procedure:
https://oajweb.cefca.es/doc/tac/cfp/OAJ-Open_Time_2026AT80.pdf
Notice that, besides the current call, most of the observing
time has already been allocated to the Legacy Surveys with JAST80
for the period from 2023 to 2027 (https://oajweb.cefca.es/observingtime/oaj_ls).
The OAJ Director’s Discretionary Time (OAJ-DDT) call is permanently open for the JAST80 telescope, with up to 30 hours available per semester. Details about this open time modality can be found in the document linked above.
Recently, OAJ-DDT has also been made permanently available for observations with JPCam on the 2.5-meter Javalambre Survey Telescope (JST250), with up to 30 hours available per semester. JPCam is a 1.2 GPixel panoramic camera mounted at the Cassegrain focus of the JST250. JPCam is a direct imaging instrument with a large field of view, featuring a mosaic of 14 large-format 9.2k × 9.2k Teledyne-e2V CCDs with 10 μm pixels. The system currently provides an unvignetted field of view of 3.4 square degrees.
Further details about this open time modality are available in the OAJ-JST250 DDT Call for Proposals document.
