Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the Special Session SS35 on "Exoplanets and
the Galactic environment" to be held in Lausanne (Switzerland) on July
2nd 2026 as part of the European Astronomical Society annual meeting
(29th June - 3th July,
https://eas.unige.ch/EAS2026).
The aim of this session is to understand when, where, and how planets
form by placing planetary systems within their stellar and Galactic
context. This session brings together stellar astrophysics, Galactic
archaeology, and exoplanet science to discuss how Galactic evolution,
stellar migration, and birth environment are expected to shape planet
formation efficiency, composition, and demographics.
List of topics:
Links of stellar and planetary properties: connecting observed
stellar properties to planet formation efficiency, planetary
composition, and demographics.
Exoplanets Across the Galaxy: understanding how Galactic location,
stellar populations, star clusters, and birth environment affect planet
occurrence and properties.
Towards the modelling of the Milky Way's exoplanet population:
bridging observations with simulations to predict and interpret
exoplanet diversity and assess the limitations and biases
Predicting how the origin of stars impacts the planetary building
blocks and habitability
Opportunities with upcoming population and characterization surveys
and missions (Gaia, PLATO, Ariel, Roman) to map exoplanets

We welcome participation and contributions from colleagues at all career
stages and look forward to seeing you in Lausanne.
