This is a reminder for those interested in applying for the 2-year
postdoctoral researcher position (Ricercatore a Tempo Determinato, III
Livello Professionale) at the INAF–Astronomical Observatory of Rome.
The selected researcher will work on high-contrast direct imaging data
within the framework of the LBT/SHARK-VIS project, in collaboration with
members of the Star and Planet Formation group and the SHARK-VIS/AO team
at the observatory.

The deadline for applications is November 7th, 2025.

The Italian National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF) – Osservatorio
Astronomico di Roma (OAR) invites applications for a 2-year temporary
researcher position (Ricercatore a Tempo Determinato, III Livello
Professionale) to work within the framework of the SHARK-VIS project.
SHARK-VIS is the new AO-assisted, visible-band high-contrast imager for
the Large Binocular Telescope. It is a PI instrument owned and operated
by INAF–OAR. The commissioning and science verification phases were
successfully completed in 2024, and the instrument has recently begun
scientific operations. Its primary science driver is the direct imaging
and characterization of giant protoplanets around young stellar objects.

The researcher will work within the SHARK-VIS/AO team and the Star and
Planet Formation group at INAF-OAR. The main activities will include:
- Reduction and analysis of SHARK-VIS data
- Characterization of protoplanets in the context of planetary formation
models
- Planning and execution of observations with SHARK-VIS

Expertise in the following areas will be positively evaluated: star and
planet formation, detection and characterization of extrasolar planets,
high-contrast imaging, optical/infrared observations with adaptive
optics.

The official call has opened on October 8th, 2025, with a deadline of
November 7th, 2025.
