The Institute of Physics at the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (USM), in San Joaquin, Santiago, Chile is currently open to Postdoc Fellowship application requests. Applicants are invited to apply for a 3 year FONDECYT fellowship (link here, applications can be made in English/Spanish), hosted by the Extragalactic group at the San Joaquin campus. The fellowship includes a competitive salary, and individual funds for travel, equipment, health FONDECYT fellowship insurance and publications.
The Extragalactic group are part of a new and rapidly growing Astronomy department as part of the USM, located in the heart of the capital city of Chile, Santiago. We are searching for candidates in the field of extragalactic astrophysics, with experience in galaxy formation, galaxy evolution, environmental effects, large scale structure and cosmology, using numerical simulations and/or observations. FONDECYT postdocs can also become PI of their observing proposals using Chilean observing facilities, including ALMA, ESO, Gemini-S and Magellan. The requests for patronage at USM will be accepted until 20th April. Please be aware that the closing date for FONDECYT applications is April 28th, therefore time would be limited to provide feedback.
FONDECYT fellowships can only be applied for by recently graduated doctorate students (graduated from January 1st, 2019 to August 31st, 2022). This period can be extended for women who have recently given birth, contact for details. If your application is successful, the start date for the FONDECYT fellowship would be April 15th, 2023.
