2025 Pinewood Derby - Sat Mar 22, 2025

Hello P195,

This Saturday is our race day for Pinewood Derby. We will do checkins on Friday 3/21 from 6pm - 8pm, in the cafeteria. Please bring your scout/sibling car, with wheels and axles (were included in the kit), weights (were not included, may need to be purchased from amazon, search for pinewood derby weights, or from scout store). We will do inspections at this time. If there are any deficiencies, the leaders will be available to help fixing them. Once the cars are checked-in, we will hold on to them, so there is no damage done.

Leaders, if you could bring some basic tools, and supplies that may be needed in tuneups/repairs. It would help if we had a few extra kitchen scales with helping weight-ins. The overall weight has to be 5oz or less (it safer to be a bit under 5oz, just in case your scale isn't super accurate).

I will try to recruit a few dads to help me setup the track in the cafeteria, during the checkins.

On Saturday, we are asking everyone to come in at 8:30am, to help setup the room, final prep, and then race start at 9am. Ideally we would be finished by noon, 1pm the latest (including cleanup). There will be a hot-dog vendor, scouts will get a hotdog for free, and any additional can be purchased.

We will start races from younger dens (we will combine Lion, Tiger and Wolf together into one race, as the dens are smaller). Then Bear, Webelo, AOL, Sibling, Leader, and finally the PACK race (top 3 of each den race advance to the Pack race). We will conclude with award ceremony and trophy presentation.

A quick reminder, the race car check-in is tonight from 6pm to 7:30pm. The arrival for the race tomorrow is 8:30am, and we should wrap up around noon.
