We are going camping to Camp Oak Spring. It's a beautiful facility right here in Somerset.

Location: 228 Weston Rd, Somerset, NJ

The Camp is owned and operated by Girl Scouts. The tent campsite we have is the Paddock (camp map is available in the brochure on the website above).

We will have a few supervised activities while there:

1) Archery

2) Tractor & Wagon ride around the property

Based on the survey here is the current list of families interested in going. If you would like to go and you are not on the list, please let me know.

We will be cooking our own food (Sat dinner, Sun breakfast), so will be collecting $25/family for food.

I know kids have different activities on Saturdays, but it looks like our Archery activity starts at 2pm, so you would want to be there around 1pm to drop you camping gear at the site, and then comfortably come to the archery field before 2pm. Some of us will try to be there around 12:00-12:30 to check-in. Later in the evening we will try to get the tractor ride (we did this last time we were there, and it was a blast). There is also gaga pit near by, a sports field, fishing in the DNR canal right there. and bunch of other outdoor activities. Dens can probably complete a few of their requirements for the outdoor/camping adventure.

We will share more info later this week and early next week. Let's hope the weather holds 🤞

Please bring $25 check or cash (per family) to the next meeting Mon Oct 16 (make the check out to Cub Scout Pack 195). This will cover the cost of food we will buy for Sat dinner, and Sun breakfast (menu will be announced later). If you have any dietary restrictions, please let your Den leader know. The payment should be given to Santina (interim treasurer).

We have a few extra tents and sleeping backs in Pack inventory, so if anyone needs them, please let me know (1st come, 1st served).

Den leaders should also practice a campfire skit with their scouts.

Families can bring a pumpkin and carving tools for our jack-o-lantern carving contest.

If any of the new families are going camping with us, we just need to make sure they have submitted the scout application with the payment (all families need to be listed on the charter, for insurance purposes).

Separate from the camping trip, we Santina will also be collecting annual dues payments on Mon Oct 16th (again, check or cash).
