Scouts and Scouters of Troop132/1132,

I would like to address the current situation the Troop is experiencing. Some are saying that the Committee was swayed into accepting our current guidebook and discipline policy.  That cannot be further from the truth. The current guidebook and discipline policy was voted on and approved by a majority vote. This policy was approved by the Scouting America Northeast PA Council. The discipline policy that is in the guidebook is an updated version of our past policy that was outdated. It is in place to ensure all Scouts have a safe and adventurous scouting experience. In no way does the guidebook work to exclude any scout who does not conform to a narrow definition of a scout. The guidebook is on the Troop 132 website. Please feel free to read it and see for yourself. I'm sure you'll see that there is no wording that excludes Scouts who follow the Scout Oath and Law.

Also, I want to reassure all of you that Troop 132/1132 is not going anywhere. We are a strong Troop, we have plenty of leaders and equipment. Matt Flanagan has stepped up to be out new scoutmaster. I know there was a zoom meeting on Wednesday Dec 10th that only invites were sent out to a select few. The Committee of Troop 132/1132 was excluded from this meeting to keep us from speaking up. I'm aware that it was meant to sway Scouts and Scouters away from Troops 132/1132. That is very unscout like and unprofessional. I am also aware that a deadline was put out that Scouts needed to decide whether they were staying at their current Troop or going to join the other Troop that doesn't exist yet by Tuesday Dec 15th. That is appalling that anyone would put that type of pressure on our Scouts.  That is not nearly enough time to make an educated decision on where they want their scouting future. All Scouts and Scouters are welcome at Troop 132/1132.

Feel free to contact me with your concerns about this issue.
