Troop 132/1132 Families,
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Matt Flannigan, and I will be serving as your Scoutmaster beginning January 1.
I have been involved in Scouting for nearly 30 years. My Scouting journey began as a youth member of Troop 50 at St. Ann’s in West Scranton, where I earned the rank of Life Scout. As a youth, I also worked multiple summers as a Northeastern Pennsylvania Council camp staff member, serving on the staffs at Camp Acahela and Goose Pond Scout Reservation. I completed a Philmont trek and attended the National Scout Jamboree.
I am a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, where I currently serve as the advisor to the Camping Committee. I also serve on the Council Camping Committee and the Council Training Committee, and I have been a course director for both adult and youth training programs. I share this background so you know that your Scouts and Troops 132 and 1132 are in good hands.
This program is not about me, it is about your youth. I am here to serve with a focus on engaging every Scout and ensuring that the troop provides the opportunities, support, and resources each Scout needs to achieve their fullest potential.
I want to assure everyone that both troops will remain active. We will continue to camp, hike, participate in council activities, and serve our community.
I have already spoken with many outstanding youth and adults who proudly call Troop 132 and Troop 1132 home and plan to continue doing so. I look forward to working with all of you as we move forward together. I am always available by phone or email if you have any questions.
I hope everyone has a Happy Holiday's and I will see you all January 7th for our first meeting of the new year.
