Hey Scio Flyers,

As many of you know, our fall maintenance last year required us to remove a couple of Oak trees from the property. To ensure we remain good stewards of the field and keep our relationship with the Township strong, we’d like to replace those lost trees with new growth.

Instead of buying nursery stock, we were hoping to find some "volunteer" Oak trees—the little guys that sprout up naturally in your yards or flower beds—that members might be willing to donate.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Age: Ideally a couple of years old.

  • Size: Young enough to be easily dug up and transplanted without heavy machinery.

  • Species: Any variety of Oak.

The Plan:

We intend to offer these young trees to the Township as a replacement for the ones we cut down. Once we have a headcount of available saplings, we will work directly with the Township to determine the best locations to plant them around the perimeter of the property.

Do you have any volunteers? If you have a sapling or two on your property that you’d be happy to see find a permanent home at the field, please reply to this email or let me know at the next meeting. We can coordinate a time to help dig them up if needed.

Thanks for helping us keep the Scio Flyers field green!

Jim
