CHIA is pleased to circulate the following request from the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), which is exploring the ways to improve the delivery of language assistance to Medi-Cal enrollees and beneficiaries.
Dear Interpreter:
The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), in cooperation with Nimdzi Insights, an independent research company, is conducting a research project mandated by Assembly Bill (AB) 635 (Atkins, Chapter 600, Statutes of 2016). AB 635 requires DHCS to work with stakeholders to:
- identify current requirements for medical interpretation services
- identify education, training and licensure requirements
- analyze Medicaid programs outside of California
- make recommendations on strategies, including up to four possible pilot projects, that may be employed regarding the provision of medical interpretation services for Medi-Cal beneficiaries who are limited English proficient (LEP).
Your feedback is critical to this process.
Below is a link to the survey that will be utilized to compile an environmental scan of medical interpretation services. It is a simple survey that asks questions about your experience as medical interpreters and your feedback for the provisioning of medical interpretation services in California. DHCS would like to have your feedback.
All responses will be kept anonymous, and results will be reported in the Fall of 2019 only in the aggregate. We estimate that the survey will take approximately 10 minutes. We appreciate your time. Thank you.
The survey can be found at: https://survey.nimdzi.com/zs/VWBUTc
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Inna Tysoe at (916) 345-8106 or DHCSAB...@dhcs.ca.gov.
Please complete the survey by Friday, May 31.
Again, thank you so much for your time.
