Looking for thoughts about air brushing my builds.
Any suggestions on equipment?

Thanks,
Carl

Carl,

Similar to air brushing, I was thinking about getting a paint gun (similar to what is used to paint cars).  I find that for some of my bigger rockets, that I use many of the “rattle-paint-cans”.  I think getting a paint spray gun might be a better option in terms of quality and potentially cost as well.  Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions.  I am also curious about the air brush and would love to learn more about that.

Best regards,

Art Kay

Hi Art,
I’ve had good luck recently with rattle cans as I’ve been religious in following the directions on the can (finally 🫢). But like you mentioned I go through too many!
I have yet to try wagner spray gun ( for large projects) as it does have a fine tip and settings.
Was also looking for feedback on whether it was worth the investment for an airbrush.

Alcon

I bought a et of Harbor Freight HVLP guns that include primer, finish and details guns, and a cleaning kit. I use Eastwood products – great epoxy primer -but only on the big stuff.

Use Duplicolor or Rustoleum on the small stuff. Since I have been painting 3D printed stuff I have been using Rustoleum universal but not excited with the way it dries; doesn’t get really hard so shows fingerprints.

Of course, when the rocket fails epically doesn’t matter what you paint it. 😊
