Dear Yarmouth Sailors and Parents

We have one last regatta this year at Mount Desert on Saturday.  Sandy, Oliver, McKenzie and Nastia will be representing us.

As we wrap up this season and look forward to the next, there are a few things the team needs your help with:

1)   Yarmouth Sailing Team will cease to exist without a new parent coordinator. It would be great if a parent or parents of a younger sailor could take the reins. Continuity is an asset.  The job is honestly fun, and could be shared. I am happy to provide support/guidance.  Now is the time to raise your hand.

2)    The team could really use another fundraiser. Two summers ago we managed a parking lot during the Clam Festival and made a few thousand dollars.  This offset travel costs and allowed us to buy some logo gear to keep our sailors feeling warm and looking cool.  I would like to do this again if we can get about 12 volunteers (kids & parents) for July 20-22.

3)     We will have an end-of-year pizza party, slide show and awards. Date TBA, but before the seniors graduate.

4)    The team needs to elect new captains. The next dinner would be a great time to do that.

5)    This team has a great future.  We have an incredible coach in Myles. We have an amazingly warm and supportive team culture.  More young sailors should help us carry this on. I am hoping the current and incoming captains  can get some recruitment messages on the morning announcements before the end of school. We have some big signs we could put up as well as posters.

Hello Everyone!

Are there any more details regarding this weekend?

I know the kids race on Saturday, what time do they need to be there?  Is it only a Saturday race?

I guess what I trying to say/ask is, I'll probably be driving and would like to know when to leave etc.  Mackenzie mentioned there was discussion of leaving on Friday?  If that is the case, do we have a place to stay or do we have to find a place or is this a one day thing?

I'm sorry for so many questions at once.

Looking forward to seeing as much of the team as we can at our house this evening!  One more:  any special requests for pizza?

Seconding Henry’s request here…….This is such a great team, but school and SailMaine rules are that teams cannot exist without a parent coordinator….. Or two—people can do it as a duo!   I can continue to help with finances if people want, though I would rather pass off the job. But PLEASE one of the parents of younger students—think about being parent coordinator.  It requires some time, but not tons.  And it is fun!
This is a great team….we want it to continue.

I'm guessing we could meet at the high school and must leave by 6?  We need to be there for 9.  I'm hoping it's so early, there won't be much holiday traffic.

Yes, you'll be well ahead of the traffic, as I remember from last year. I think that's a good plan.

Henry,
Is there anything special I need to know or do when I get there or are the kids prepared to handle it?
