Hi,
Tim said it would be ok if I reached out to the group to see if anyone was actively working on missing or unidentified persons cases in tribal country for Native Americans/Alaska Native cases. The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System program (NamUs) administered by the National Institute of Justice has made a concerted effort this year to conduct outreach with tribal communities and stakeholders. Based upon recent findings from NIJ’s program of research examining violence and victimization experienced by American Indian and Alaska Native women, NamUs has been engaging with the tribal community more directly to see how NamUs and other services could be better used to support these stakeholders, these cases, and how resources can be used to more effectively resolve missing American Indian and Alaska Native persons cases.
I was curious if any other members of this missing person group were working on the missing and murdered issues in Indian Country.
Best,
Danielle
