Hello,
I have some web interface reports on my application. They are shown in some pages and can be exported using the standard buttons.
I have two questions:
1) I had some troubles due to the presence of punctuation (comma, semicolon) inside the text shown in some columns of the report: when I export the report, the comma or the semicolon (depending on which format of csv I chose) and the 'new line' that are inside the text to be exported, are recognised as they where separators and thus the export is created with errors. Is there any way to avoid this problem, other than remove those columns from the report?
2) When you customize the export, it is sent via email. In fact, the email just contains a link to the export and when you go to the link, it doesn't download the export, but shows it in the page and you have to righ-click, choose 'save as..' and save the export. It's not a big deal, but it is not that straighforward too for users..Isn't it possible to download it directly in some other way (considering that I need the semicolon as separator)?
Thank you
Daniela

Hello Sir,

We have created web interface report with column which consist of special symbol such as comma, semicolon & exclamatory sign. After we export that report(with CSV format) then all the special symbols are recognized in CSV file without any error. please refer attached screenshot for more information.

When we customize export & it is sent via email .The email consist of link & as it is opened in web browser, will automatically download file as per current functionality provided by platform. Right now no direct provision is to download file directly.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any queries.

Regards,
Ghanshyam

Hello Ghanshyam,
as regards the report download, I actually found that the problem is related to Chrome, while it works as expected in Mozilla Firefox (when you click the link, the download starts automatically).
As regards the errors inside the report, you're actually right about the punctuation sings, I obviously jumped to hasty conclusions. Still, my problem remains and is probably caused by some other character or text formatting copied from an other source. In fact, I noticed that the text that is causing problems, has been copied from an email and pasted inside the field of the web interface. This must have brought some special formatting together with the text and caused the issues reported. If you want to test it yourself, try pasting the following text inside a field, and it should give troubles to you too when downloading the report. Thank you.

Hello Sir,

Hello Ghanshyam,
as I said this must be a problem due to some hidden formatting; this would explain also the fact that you didn't have the same issue, using the exact same text.
In any way, I decided to remove the potentially 'dangerous' field from the report.
Thank you for your support.
