Announcing the launch of ROR schema 2.1, plus releases 1.57 & 1.58

Hi all,
We have an exciting update for you today: the launch of ROR schema 2.1! This is a non-breaking change that adds additional location information to ROR records in v2 of the API and in v2 files in the data dump, namely names and codes for continents and for country subdivisions such as US states, Canadian provinces, and Japanese prefectures.

As part of the launch of v2, we've updated every record in the ROR registry in release 1.58 to add country subdivision and continent information. Oh, and by the way, last week, prior to the launch of schema v2.1, the ROR team also previously added 416 records and updated 308 records as part of release 1.57, bringing the total number of active, inactive, and withdrawn records in ROR to 111,808.
These will be the final releases of 2024, but naturally we'll be doing many more updates to ROR in 2025. See you in the new year!
