Hi all,

One beta testing round ends; another begins! Just two days ago we released some terrific changes to the ?affiliation "smart matching" parameter of the ROR API after some helpful beta testing by ROR integrators. We are now asking for beta testers to give us feedback on the technical implementation of changes to the ROR API, the ROR search UI, and the ROR data dump that support cases where an organization has ceased to operate, merged with another organization, or was added to ROR in error.

The primary change is the introduction of new status values "inactive" and "withdrawn" in ROR; currently, all records in ROR have a status with the value "active". New filters and parameters in the API and the web search interface will allow users to find and exclude records based on status, as in the following example:

https://api.dev.ror.org/organizations?filter=status:withdrawn

Read the full documentation of organization status changes and explore more examples.

  • Users of the ROR API can test the changes https://api.dev.ror.org. Note that these changes are non-breaking and are compatible with the current ROR schema.

  • Users of the ROR search interface can test changes at https://dev.ror.org/search.

  • Users of the ROR data dump can see changes in a sample data dump at org-status-beta-test-2022-10-14-ror-data.zip. Note that the data dump file will include all records with all statuses, so the only change will be that records may contain new values in the status and relationships.type fields.

The beta testing period will be open through November 27, 2022, with a tentative release date of December 1, 2022. Please let us know what you think in the comments of the call for feedback on GitHub Discussions -- or just reply to this post.

Cheers,

Amanda
