Hi all,

Release 1.65 of the Research Organization Registry is now live: this release updates 776 ROR records and adds 0 new records, so we're still at the satisfyingly round number of 116,000 active, inactive, and withdrawn records in ROR. Today's release focuses primarily on updating ROR records for funders, including funders in China.

As always, new data is immediately available in the ROR API and can be downloaded from Zenodo at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.6347574

Speaking of ROR IDs for funders, here are a few resources you can consult if you're thinking of using ROR for the purpose of funder identification:
  • Guide to the ongoing transition from the Open Funder Registry to ROR (ROR documentation)
  • Announcement that ROR IDs can now be used to identify funders in Crossref metadata (Crossref blog)
  • Case study of some repository systems that use ROR IDs for funder identification (ROR blog)
  • Registration details for the May 21 ROR Community Call, in which (among other things) Traci Snowden of Elsevier will present on how Mendeley Data and Digital Commons integrated ROR IDs to identify both research affiliations and, more recently, funders
Happy ROR-ing, all!

Cheers,

Amanda
