Hello RISC-V Community,
As a followup to the recent publication of the Code of Conduct and the lively discussions afterward, we would like to first thank all of the commenters for their valuable participation. The RISC-V Foundation is grateful for the opportunity to improve processes and to keep the community healthy.
To that end, the foundation has formed a response team specifically for community issues, including the CoC. We want to encourage everyone to come forward with comments and even complaints about the Code of Conduct. The response team will take all comments into consideration as we refine this code. We want to make this process as transparent as possible, with the understanding that no CoC is going to be perfect or cover all circumstances. We rely on the good faith of all participants to make the RISC-V community a positive experience for everyone.
We also want to provide the following new policies for these public groups:
- A new public community group "
comm...@riscv.org", specifically for non-technical discussions in the RISC-V community. This includes complaints, congratulations, or anything else related to RISC-V of a non-technical nature that you wish to discuss. You can join this group here:
(Special thanks to Luke, who pointed out that the group was misconfigured as private - that has been fixed so anyone can join it now.)
- With the addition of the Community group, please confine all discussions on technical groups to technical subjects only. Complaints, accolades, personal topics, etc. should be discussed on the community group, or to one of the following addresses for confidentiality.
- As announced previously, if you have a complaint about someone's conduct that violates the Code of Conduct, please contact us at
con...@riscv.org. All email to this address will be treated as confidential, in accordance with the Code of Conduct, and responses will be direct to the individual.
As an initial response process, we will provide warnings if someone ventures into inappropriate territory for a given group, and will only moderate people if absolutely necessary. A full response process for conduct issues and other concerns will be published for comment soon.
- For communications directly to the Foundation, you can now send email to
leade...@riscv.org. You can also reach the response team specifically at
respon...@riscv.org. All email will be treated as confidential to these addresses.
Thanks again for being part of this vibrant, revolutionary community!
