Hi,
I've a different story to share. I'm basically an IT engineer of ~8 years experience but got into VLSI industry after job loss in IT and being unable to pick up a satisfying job again.
So I got into this new job as Verilog trainer, but with winning experiences I imagined to get a team engaged in this competition.
I pulled out a B.E. grad, deviced a plan,
engaged 3 more students and was enthusiastic to get firing together on this competition on weekends (apart from my regular weekdays training on the institution syllabus).
It was a Friday night that I stayed back and got Libero SoC and other softwares installed. Next morning, I transferred the work to their laptops.
Following sunday night, when I called up to inquire about the progress on the project, I was shocked yo learn that P.O.C has already started behaving abnormally, laughing and crying in the lab, later threatening his dorm-mates, jumping the campus fence and intercepting traffic. Soon he was subdued by the campus security, then his parents were informed, who then took him to the hospital.
More than a month later, yesterday I got a call from him saying he's doing well.

engine-V uses source code recovered from old backup CD's - the original source of commercial compiler "abc" got destroyed in the fire. [a very long story skipped here].

completing a full contest entry without head-start could be considered as suicide mission.
