Hello there,

I've been using the MILK-V Pioneer machine for some time now and am quite satisfied with it. It has enabled me to test-drive Jenkins and compile several open-source projects I use, such as openSCAD and updatecli. Additionally, I purchased a Wi-Fi USB dongle based on the MTK7921AU chip to use at the Jenkins booth during FOSDEM in February, and it worked seamlessly.

However, I encountered an issue this morning: the machine refused to boot. There are no blinking lights, no fan activity—nothing. It appears completely unresponsive. I've tried different power outlets and even swapped the power cable, but there was no change.

Has anyone here experienced a similar issue? If so, what was your solution?

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards,

Bruno,

At the Ecosystem Lab Partners call I asked if anybody had anything that might help you out.  Ali had this suggestion.

Subject: MILK-V Pioneer Box RevyOS bootloader
To: Greg Sterling <gr...@riscv.org>

Hi Greg,

Here is the link to the RevyOS repository page, including links to download RevyOS Debian and bootloader for MILK-V Pioneer Box.

The MILK-V Boot flow prioritizes the boot from the SD card instead of the onboard flash. What Bruno can do is flash the SD card with one of the bootloaders from this link flash the NVMe with the corresponding Debian distribution and try to boot the Pioneer Box.

.img extension means bootloaders to flash to SD card and.bin extension files are the bootloaders for flashing onto onboard flash

Ali (Cloud-V Team @ 10xEngineers)

Hi,

Did you try to power down the machine completely (for at least 10min,
maybe more)?

In our experience this could help reset the EC chip and resolve
power-supply related issues.

Thank you so much for your help. Leaving the machine disconnected from any power source for more than 10 minutes allowed it to start again once it was plugged back in.
