Attendees:Jeff, Yu Bo, Heinrich, Darren, Chen, Wei Fu, Axel, Daniel,Victor, Thea

Board Updates:

  • Beagle

    • BeagleV-Ahead board available.  See what’s cool for link.

  • Milk-V

    • Meles: TH1520

Program Updates:

  • Debian

    • firefox 115.0.2 has gone into sid for RISC-V

  • Fedora

    • Fedora 38 Package number 20692/23032 [89.84%]

    • zsbl→opensbi->edk2→GRUB→Fedora on Milk-V

    • RV32 bootstrap going well, building rpms for minimal rootfs

      • The world first Fedora 38 Image on RV32 which is installed from RPMs

      • All the RPMs are built natively on qemu

  • SUSE

    • Awaiting for Milk-V boxes from Jeff

    • Working with StarFive on VisionFive V2 board

  • Canonical

  • Android (AOSP)

    • ART: macro-assembler is done;JNI compiler is done, which caused more than 2x speedup on cuttlefish boot; other on-going work includes: merged patches about compiler, working on Nterp and setting up continuous testing infrastructure for ART。

    • One of the highlights is about the kicking off development work for the NDK, and it looks like Google will support riscv64 starting from API level 35, which suggests Google's plan is to potentially support riscv64 with Android 15.

    • RVI Android SIG monthly meeting was held last Friday(July/14)., Discussed the AOSP RISC-V ABI issue, but Google believes that it is not yet the time for lockdown. What can be seen so far is to add Zb* and vector on the basis of RVA22, Vector Crypto may be required. Google hopes that the specs for these related extensions be ratified as soon as possible and also welcome all hardware manufacturers to provide supplements to the extension.

  • Sel4

    • Working on JH7110 board issues

  • oreboot

    •  JH7110 could boot Linux into userland, crashing on misalignment though

      • We try to keep the SBI simple, but it appears that is not that feasible 🙁

  • RISC-V

    • Program status

      • Overall 1 pager: (link)

      • June status (link)

    • VisionFive V2

      • Shipping 8 more “Second call” projects boards (5 projects)

      • Leaves 11 boards in inventory

    • Pioneer Box

      • Milk-V bringup going slowly at Canonical per Heinrich

      • Jeff has second “batch” candidates (SUSE & Yocto)

      • Will need to carefully plan shipping based on how projects go.

      • Forms still open (projects and distros)

      • Currently 27 projects and 7 distros (11 boxes)

      • Work remains to finalize details of box availability, shipping, etc.

    • Pinetab-V has reached out

      • They are looking for a few Linux distro contacts for assistance, they are not interested in a full DevBoard program at this time.  Introductions made.

    • 10 Unmatched boards have also been offered by SiFive

      • Processing payment to SiFive

      • Will reach out to Distro contacts first

    • VisionFive V2 for Automotive

      • A project has been approved for CAN bus for VisionFive V2 from an RISC-V member.  Boards shipping soon.

What’s cool?:
