I requested an API key about a month ago via https://rescuegroups.org/services/request-an-api-key/, but unfortunately have not received any response. Is there any other way I can get into contact with someone to hopefully get a key?

Hi Mitchell,

I looked into your report and found that your API key request did not identify a website URL or an organization name. Often, when our team receives requests without enough information to verify it is a valid user of our API, the key request is deleted.

Please try to request a new key and provide more identifying information. If you don't hear from our team within a week, please reach out to our support system:

Hi Emily,

Thank you for your response and the clarification. I will submit another request, but also want to check something with you here. Is it a requirement to have an organization or website URL? I am a solo developer working on a pet related app (so have neither), and adoption is intended to be one of the app's many features. There will never be any paywall/monetization around the adoption feature it will always be completely free.

Best,
Mitch

Hi Mitch,

We do require some type of identifying information associated with your API key. If you are sharing animal data in a public way, our organizations need to be able to choose whether to share their data with your particular API key. Also, our team should be able to verify that your application or website is using the information you use in a way that meets our API Terms of Service. The name of your application and a link to where the application is shared (once live) would be sufficient.

Hope this helps!
Emily
