Hi RescueGroups.org API community,

I hope you’re doing well. I’ve recently started exploring the RescueGroups.org API and wanted to say thank you for making this resource available. It is clear that a lot of work has gone into supporting shelters, rescues, and the broader animal welfare ecosystem.

I’m still early in learning how everything fits together, and I wanted to ask for a bit of guidance. I’m interested in better understanding the broader ecosystem around the API, including how shelters and rescues use it, how data flows between different platforms, and how RescueGroups.org thinks about partnerships or integrations with other organizations in the space.

Would anyone be open to pointing me toward the right person, resource, or first step for learning more about this? I’d be especially interested in understanding:
  • How RescueGroups.org typically works with shelter/rescue software platforms, adoption sites, or other ecosystem partners
  • Whether there are established pathways for new partners or builders to engage constructively with the community
  • Where outside contributors can be most helpful, whether through tooling, analysis, feedback, or other support
I’m approaching this with a lot of respect for the work already being done and would love to learn more about the efforts underway. Any pointers, introductions, or recommended first steps would be greatly appreciated.

Best,
Scot
