Kick-Off Meeting Summary

Good morning, Membership Development Committee!

Summarizing our first meeting below:

• Committee agreed to kick-off two projects:
• Project 1 - Create framework to inform:
• a) how to host membership drive efforts, an
• b) new member onboarding workflow
• Project 2 - Gather feedback from existing members to identify membership value and areas of opportunity for membership development purposes.
• We will prioritize Project 1, as it will create the most benefit in the short term, and Project 2 requires more high-level discussion.

Next Steps:

• We will start drafting a framework in a working document that will be shared by Alex
• We will meet again the week of August 5th to go over the framework and workshop it internally. Please complete Doodle before Friday, July 26^th at 12pm: https://doodle.com/meeting/participate/id/bqMGWlpb
• Once the committee is satisfied with the framework draft, we will socialize it with the Chairs from the Council Relations, Events and Education committees for feedback.
• Next steps will be determined after feedback is collected.

Additional discussion:

Our new member onboarding ought to include questions that allows us to:

1) Identify what value each new member is hoping to extract from STAR, and

2) Identify the areas of expertise the new member can contribute to, so we can connect members

Example discussed:

Brocke Lively shared he lives too far to attend any in-person network events but would benefit from virtual networking opportunities or mentorship/buddy programs that allow him to connect with fellow municipalities working on similar projects/programs.
