Hi Education Committee,

Thank you for your time today! Summarizing our meeting below:

Reviewed the Texas Schools Bin Grant Language:

• Discussed:
• Updating grant's main objective to clearly define use of funds
• Identifying materials to be collected (PET and/or flexible plastics)
• Establishing selection criteria and weights that are fair for all applicants (no clear resolution on this, yet)
• Added:
• A competition amongst grant awardees - the school that collects the most material by weight will win a TELA award, potentially a $500 HEB card. 
• A reporting page or structure to support schools keep track of their impact. 
• Next Steps:
• Alex will review language and send updates before our meeting next Wednesday, Sept 10th. 
• Committee will review before the meeting, so we can come prepared with language proposals and start discussing how to deploy our communication strategy for this grant. 
• Alex and Adrian will coordinate meeting with H-E-B to discuss grant parameters and next steps, after the next Committee review.

Briefly discussed Webinar Series Schedule:

• Brittny found topics and potential speakers discussed last fiscal year, which are now included in our Calendar. 
• Next Steps:
• The committee will review topics and think of potential speakers before next week's meeting. 
• We will divide-and-conquer reaching out to potential speakers to fill in the calendar. 
• Alex will reach out to Michael to see if he is available to address mattress recycling in September.

Personal Note: 

I will be going on maternity leave sometime in early October, should everything go according to time. I expect to return in January.  One of my main priorities this month is to ensure this committee is set up for continued success, so we don't lose momentum on our initiatives. To do so, we need to elect an interim chair for Oct-Dec. We will discuss further during our next meeting.
