Richmond Amateur Telecommunications Society News March 19, 2026 Inside this email: Membership Meeting Friday VA QSO Party Monument Ave 10k Volunteering Meetings and Club Contacts Membership Meeting Friday The monthly membership meeting is this Friday evening at 7:30 PM. Our presenter this month will be Rob Marshall, KI4MCW, with a presentation called “RATS QSO Parties and Field Days for Beginners”, just in time for the QSO Party!. We currently have FOUR new membership applications up for vote: Justin Hall KR4CNS John King WB4NHX Havoc Doyle KR4IVO Sean Chastain KR4KDO Connect to the meeting at https://go.rats.net/zoom Be sure to review last month’s minutes and recent committee reports ahead of time so we can sail right through the business portion of our meeting. VA QSO Party We will be hosting a VA QSO Party event at Laurel Recreation Area in Henrico on March 21st from 11am to 8pm. The event is FREE and you DO NOT need to be a RATS member to join us. All clubs and individuals are invited to participate, licensed or not! We'll have HF radios on the air operating under the club callsign for all to enjoy. We will also be offering free DMR radio programming. We have a large number of codeplugs ready to go for many different radio models. You will need to bring your radio and programming cable. We will have some food and water available, but please feel free to bring a dish or snacks to add to the table! If you have any additional questions, please reach out at activ...@rats.net. Monument Avenue 10k Volunteering Volunteer registration is now open for the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10k, coming up on April 18th! Our Public Service Team is looking for volunteers to provide communications from various points along the route. You do not need to be experienced operating at events to participate. We will pair you up with someone that is. Operating at events is fun, it gives us skills useful for operating in emergency communications and it shows our local community what we are capable of as radio amateurs.
