Membership Meeting Friday

The monthly membership meeting is this Friday evening at 7:30 PM. This month's presenter is Chuck Abramson, the Technical Managing Partner at ABR Industries. He will be speaking about all things coax, including some technical and specific applications. Questions are welcome throughout and at the end of the presentation.

🎁 There will also be 2 door prizes of $50 each given to two randomly selected attendees who are still present at the end of the presentation!

Connect to the meeting at https://go.rats.net/zoom

We currently have one new membership application up for vote:

  • Jim Mayhew KC4BPX

Be sure to review last month’s minutes and recent committee reports ahead of time so we can sail right through the business portion of our meeting.

Winter Field Day

Please join us on Saturday and Sunday, January 24 and 25, at Pocahontas State Park as RATS activates for Winter Field Day! All amateur radio operators and non-licensed friends are welcome!

We will start gathering at the Powhatan Dining Hall at 10am EST Saturday, and will operate into the night and on into Sunday afternoon. Plenty of space will be available for staying overnight indoors (you might want to bring a cot), and good news - we will have indoor bathrooms!

We will have HF radios and antennas for the operating event. Feel free to bring VHF or UHF radios and antennas to make simplex contacts on those bands.

This year's event is a potluck, so you're encouraged to bring a dish (store-bought is great!) and non-alcoholic beverages. Also, if you feel like cooking, we will have access to the dining hall's full commercial kitchen - just bring your own pots, pans, and utensils! RATS will be supplying basic cutlery, plates, and bowls.

There will be FCC testing again this year, presented by the Catastrophic Amateur Tactical Squad (CATS). Testing will begin at 11am on Saturday.

If there's enough interest, we'll be having a foxhunt too, so you're encouraged to bring directional 2-meter antennas, radios, and other DF gear to participate!

We hope to see you at the park!
