Membership Meeting Friday

The monthly membership meeting is this Friday evening at 7:30 PM.  Our presenter this month is Greg Mihran, KJ6ER. He'll be presenting "PERFormer, Challenger, and Dominator portable antennas for POTA, SOTA, Emergency Communications and HOA Deployments". He has designed a number of highly efficient, homebrew, portable antennas with plans always shared with the ham community. See the attached PDF for more information or visit his QRZ page linked above.

Connect to the meeting at https://go.rats.net/zoom

We currently have four new membership applications up for vote:

  • Franklin "Skee" McAllister

  • Anthony Cairoli KR4EYZ

  • Larry Lamb W4LML
  • Jeff Augustine WH6GSY

Be sure to review last month’s minutes and recent committee reports ahead of time so we can sail right through the business portion of our meeting.

Activities Committee Meeting

The Activities Committee will be holding another meeting On October 21 at 7:30pm via Zoom. This meeting will focus on the "fun stuff" for Winter Field Day (January 24-25, 2026) such as antenna & station planning and extra activities during the event other than sitting down to operate the radios. Join in to make it an awesome event!

Richmond Marathon Volunteer Registration

Volunteer registration is still open for the Allianz Richmond Marathon, coming up on November 15.  Our Public Service Team is looking for AT LEAST FOUR more volunteers to provide communications from various points along the route.  You do not need to be experienced operating at events to participate.  We will pair you up with someone to help show you the ropes.  Operating at events is fun, it gives us skills useful for operating in emergency communications and it shows our local community what we are capable of as radio amateurs.

Register online to volunteer with RATS and sign up for other public service event updates via email.

Dues are Due!

Dues for the 2025-2026 membership year were due by September 30. If you did not renew, your membership is lapsed, but fear not! If you renew before November 30, your membership will continue like normal. After November 30, you will need to reapply and be voted in as a "new" member again. You can renew online at rats.net/renew or, if you want to check your Member Profile to verify that you have paid or not, go.rats.net/profile.
