Club 420 Midwinter Championship Registration Opening

Hello 420 Race Team Parents—

Travel regattas require A LOT of advanced planning.  From registration, pairings, travel, charter boats, coaching, etc there are a ton of moving pieces to coordinate.  We currently have 8 boats planning to attend Orange Bowl (in either C420 or I420) during the last week of December.  The next big travel event is the C420 Midwinter Championship over President’s Day Weekend in February.  These events typically would have 100-150+ boats competing.  They have scaled the regattas back significantly to accommodate distancing and COVID protocols.  Both events currently are maxed at 75 entrants.  

Doing the math you will quickly see that there are WAY more kids across the country that would like to attend than will be able to.  For Orange Bowl our parents did a great job of signing up right when registration opened.  Everyone made the cutoff and no one was placed on the waitlist.  This scenario of first come, first served will happen again tomorrow morning at 6am for the Midwinter Championship.

Everything in 2020 (and now going into 2021) is a little unorthodox, with many unknowns and moving pieces.  Below is our list of sailors planning on attending the C420 Midwinters.  We need the boats to register at 6am tomorrow morning in hopes of attending.  Regattas might be canceled, but for now let’s get ourselves in line to race if they say it is safe to do so!!

*this is a C420 Class sponsored event. I would assume Class membership numbers for both skipper and crew will be needed at time of registration.  You can check your membership status/renew through the C420 website: https://club420.org/

*list below has asterisks next to names.  That signifies that someone is not 100% confirmed they can go.  Since we can’t wait until January for someone to confirm, we have listed them here.  Registration fee is refundable up until January 12th. Boat charter fees are not processed until we are closer to the event date.  Please make sure to get your boat registered tomorrow.
