Hello Venusians!
For those who be in Niagara Falls on Wednesday November 5th for the VEXAG meeting, the Deputy Chair Tracy Gregg will be hosting optional field trips to the Falls, local sites of interesting geology, and/or a nearby winery. Please sign up at the google sheet below, if you are interested in attending. The second field trip is space limited, so it is vital that you sign up in advance!

VEXAG November 5: Optional Field Trips
Optional Field Trip #1 (on foot)
We’ll meet at the Convention Center at 10:00 a.m. and walk to the lip of the American Falls and Bridal veil falls, learning about the glacial geology along the way. If folks are up for it, we’ll take a short walk ( 20 minutes) to the Niagara Gorge trailhead and you can return to the convention center on your own time.
Optional Field Trip #2 (via van)
Meet at the Convention Center at 12:30. We’ll take a quick jaunt to the Falls overlook, and then head to Whirlpool State Park and Devil’s Hole where we can see some of the tectonic expressions of isostatic rebound. We’ll drive along Lake Ontario’s paleoshorelines, stop at an abandoned plunge pool for Niagara Falls, and hopefully see some of the cobblestone houses along Rte 104. We’ll end at The Winery at Marjim Manor on the shore of Lake Ontario for a wine tasting ($10 per person). We’ll be back at the Convention center around 6:30 pm. I can only take 13 passengers: first-come, first-served.
