Shop Meeting - Saturday 9/16 @1pm

Hey softcrafts folks,Our next shop meeting is this coming Saturday, the 16th, at 1pm. Below is a list of agenda items for the meeting and topics I'd like to discuss.Shop Priorities
Managing the Space:
1) Hang additional Shop lights - seek volunteers and designate day.
2) Install heater for winter - seek volunteers and designate day.
3) Need to clear scrap fabrics - determine date to clear by and opportunity for people to claim any material.
4) Manage working bottlenecks - area for personal item storage to allow, other ways to accommodate multiple people working at the same time.Equipment:
1) Purchase a coverstitch machine - It is my recommendation that we acquire a coverstitch machine for the shop. Coverstitch machines are used to create professional hems, necklines on t-shirts and durable seams on pants (i.e. Carhartt work pants) and are integral to modern apparel production. I believe this to be a valuable asset for the Makerspace. Features that the machine should have: free arm, differential feed adjustment. Cost in the range of $800 new. We have the opportunity to acquire one through Rae Strand. I would first want to consider what features this machine holds.
2) Servicing the serger and Juki - both machines could use some TLC.It was suggested that we try and install the heater following the meeting. If 2-3 people would like to stick around after to help install the heater, let me know.Hope to see you there!
