Can you please share the following announcement and flyer with paddlers - Mahalo
We are currently inviting both Dragon Boat and Outrigger paddlers to come together and train for the 2026 Outrigger World Sprints in Singapore.
The United States can take up to 6 crews in every age category and every gender. For example: 6 crews from women age: under 40, over 40, 50, 60, 70, 75 years of age. So if you are a women 60 years and older you can actually compete in the 60, 50, 40 and open categories. The races will include 500, 1000, 1500 meters and double hull
We will have to qualify crews/people in October 4 & 5, 2025, but the qualifying race will be held at Vancouver Lake, WA. Previously we had to travel to California or Florida, so we are extremely lucky to have it in our back yard. Once qualified we have 9 months to get ready physically, mentally and financially.
Previously clubs have put crews together, or we made up crews from all of PNWORCA where we traveled within the Oregon and Washington to practice. We have so many strong paddlers just in the Pacific Northwest area that it makes sense to put our best paddlers forward.
There is a group people in the Portland area who have competed several times and are volunteering their time to coach and help put crews together. These people are seasoned good coaches of the sport. There are water and gym workouts planned to make you technically and physically strong. There are guest speakers who will talk about physical strength/power, nutrition and mental strength.
Since both Dragon Boating and Outrigger season is coming to an end it is now time to start training for World Competition. We will train at different locations in the Portland area throughout September to get ready for qualifying races October 4.
I need your help spreading the word as we plan on having a meeting and first practices on; Thursday, August 21 and Tuesday, August 26 at PacMar Marina, 3501 Marine Drive, Portland. We'll meet in the parking lot at 6:00 pmish. Please try to make one or both. Please also text me if you're coming so I can give you the gate code to get in.
I am the person gathering paddlers, so please let me know if you are interested in pushing your body and sport to represent the United States in 2026.
I have attached a flyer so please feel free to send out to others.
